We, at the National Academy of Scientist Education are overjoyed to announce that after exploring the full spectrum of the educational programme of the Academy, Gergő Porkoláb has been awarded his PhD degree.
Gergő Porkoláb, who has managed to reach the highest level of the novel and unique educational scheme envisioned by the Academy, was originally admitted to the university programme of the National Academy of Scientist Education as a biology major. He conducted his research under the supervision and with the support of his mentor, Mária Deli as well as his junior mentor, Szilvia Veszelka. Having earned his master’s degree in biology four years later, he was once again granted admission to the NASE, but this time to the programme specially designed for PhD students. After completing this stage, as well, on 21 May 2024 he successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled Improving human blood-brain barrier models to study the brain penetration of drugs and nanoparticles.

Both Gergő's in-depth knowledge and practical experience contributed to his impressive performance before the defence committee. The successful defence of a student who has completed the entire University Training Programme is a significant milestone in the history of the National Academy of Scientist Education.
